Shower Heater MIKE of Selayang has problems with a new shower heater unit he purchased on April 23 from Leow's Electrical and Home Appliance Store in Selayang.

"After less than two months, I noticed peculiar smells coming from the shower heater unit. It  smelled like burnt wires, so I had to stop using it."

MIKE says he complained to the store manager on June 3 and he was told that their technicians will replace his malfunctioning heater with another unit.

"I was at work when the technicians came to my house and my grandmother supervised the technicians but she did not notice the condition of the replacement unit," he says.

"The replacement unit looks faded from the outside and the heated water from it smells odd, too."

MIKE says he has since called the store manager several times but the manager's secretary keeps saying he is busy and will attend to MIKE's heater problem soon.

"My heater is still under warranty, so how long more must I wait?"

● THE manager of Leow's Electrical and Home Appliance Store apologises to MIKE for the inconvenience caused.

"We sent our technicians to take back MIKE's malfunctioning heater for repairs as it is under warranty, and as a gesture of goodwill we replaced his heater with a temporary one.

"But because our technical staff have difficulty communicating in Bahasa Malaysia and English, this was not properly communicated to MIKE's grandmother," he says.

"We will replace the temporary unit with a newer temporary model within this week. Once the repairs on the original heater MIKE purchased is completed, we will reinstall it in his home."

When contacted, MIKE  thanked the store but says the confusion could have been avoided if the store manager had answered his calls.
